Cambodia-Indonesia commitment to promote parliamentary relations, trade, and people-to-people relations

During a courtesy call on Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia, stated that during his diplomatic mission in Cambodia, he will strive to enhance parliamentary relations between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.


At the same time, he will strive to promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, people-to-people contacts, and education. This statement was made during a meeting on January 30, 2024, at the National Assembly.


The National Assembly President welcomed the diplomatic mission of Dr. Santo Darmosumarto and stressed that the National Assembly is always ready to cooperate with the Embassy of Indonesia to strengthen and enhance the cooperation between the two countries to be stronger, deeper, and more comprehensive.


Sudary said that his diplomatic mission in Cambodia coincided with the 65th anniversary of relations between the two countries and when the National Assembly and the seventh-term government were formed after free and fair elections in July 2023.


Indonesia ranks sixth among foreign investors in Cambodia. The trade volume between Cambodia and Indonesia in 2022 was more than $948 million. In the first four months of 2023, the bilateral trade volume reached more than $392 million. Indonesia is also a market for buying rice from Cambodia. In this regard, the NA president encourages and requests that the Ambassador consider importing more agricultural products from Cambodia. Dap-news
