Cambodia Investment Review
Business leaders from Indonesia, Singapore, and Cambodia gathered in Phnom Penh for a high-level forum jointly organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (IndoCham) and the Singapore Business Investment Forum (SBIF), spotlighting deepening regional cooperation in sustainability, technology, and investment.
Held under the theme of advancing ASEAN economic resilience, the event brought together corporate representatives and chamber members who introduced their companies’ offerings in tech security, energy, and digital services—highlighting Cambodia’s evolving demand for high-quality solutions in line with its development goals.
Joint Vision for a Resilient and Sustainable ASEAN
In his keynote remarks, Dalton Wong, President of IndoCham, emphasized the need for a trilateral partnership model between Indonesia, Singapore, and Cambodia to address emerging economic and environmental challenges. “This is not a future aspiration—it is an active opportunity,” he told attendees, noting that Cambodia’s continued economic momentum and investment-friendly policies position it as a regional standout despite global uncertainties.
Wong highlighted five key areas where collaboration between Indonesian and Singaporean firms can drive progress in Cambodia:
Energy Efficiency and Maintenance Technology: Indonesian engineering and procurement firms and Singaporean tech providers are well-positioned to upgrade Cambodia’s existing renewable energy systems through predictive maintenance, grid balancing, and auditing solutions.
Smart Infrastructure and Digital Utilities: As Cambodia accelerates its digital transition, there is scope for deploying smart meters, AI-powered building systems, and digital utilities—fields in which Singapore excels and Indonesia offers scalable execution models.
Waste-to-Energy and Circular Economy: Drawing on Indonesia’s urban infrastructure experience and Singapore’s circular economy innovation, the forum spotlighted potential in sustainable waste management as Cambodia continues to urbanize.
Skills Transfer and Workforce Development: Emphasis was placed on developing Cambodia’s talent pool, particularly in technical and vocational education. Participants discussed public-private partnerships to offer certifications and industry training for engineers and technicians.
Agri-Industrial Efficiency: Targeting energy waste in agriculture and light manufacturing, IndoCham and SBIF members explored joint pilot programs in cold storage, irrigation, and factory upgrades—directly supporting Cambodia’s growing SME sector.

Business Leaders Showcase Technology Capabilities
Each participating member company from both chambers had the opportunity to present their core expertise, from cybersecurity and enterprise solutions to smart infrastructure and logistics. These presentations provided a clearer picture of the sourcing capabilities and services Cambodia can tap into as it modernizes across sectors.
“These introductions weren’t just networking moments—they were active demonstrations of the region’s capability to contribute meaningfully to Cambodia’s future,” said one forum participant.
The forum marked a notable step in fostering trilateral alignment, with participants echoing a shared sentiment: that ASEAN’s long-term success relies on intelligent, inclusive, and impactful collaboration.

Growing Investment Interest in Cambodia
With a young workforce and strong commitment to green energy, Cambodia was repeatedly recognized as a rising destination for regional investment. Dalton Wong noted that the country has already made significant strides in renewable energy—particularly in hydropower and solar—and the conversation is now shifting from adoption to optimization.
SBIF and IndoCham agreed to continue facilitating joint events and sector-specific dialogues to strengthen Cambodia’s integration into ASEAN supply chains and innovation ecosystems.
As the forum concluded, business leaders from all three nations expressed optimism about forging deeper ties and launching pilot initiatives in 2025. The event reflected not only a recognition of Cambodia’s upward trajectory—but also a call for sustained, strategic engagement.
