The 5th Red Hornet Chairman’s Cup—Golf for a Cause, held at Chhun On Golf Resort last Friday, proved to be an overwhelming success, underscoring a strong commitment to supporting child health care in Cambodia.
The annual social golf tournament, which blends friendly competition, business networking, and philanthropy, has continued to grow in both scale and significance.
This year’s tournament saw 96 golfers and 120 dinner attendees from 16 different nationalities, surpassing last year’s record of 12. The event’s inclusivity was reflected not only in its diverse participants, representing the local and international business communities, but also in the presence of government officials and diplomats, emphasising the event’s reach and impact.
While the biggest thrill of the day came from the prize-filled competition, the eagerly anticipated hole-in-one prizes valued over $160,000 remained elusive.

Despite the best efforts of the golfers, none managed to claim them this year. The sponsors, however, politely declined to turn the incredible prizes into a lucky draw or auction items.
The highlight of the evening was the lively charity auction, hosted by Candra Tanpatti, golf convenor and emcee from EC Golf and GreenJoy. With his energetic calls for bids, attendees competed enthusiastically $12,000 raised for Mine Action. Items up for grabs included fine art, high-tech rangefinders, limited-edition whisky, and premium laptops—bidding wars were fierce, and spirits were high.
In addition to the auction, QR codes placed around the venue allowed guests to make direct contributions to this year’s designated beneficiary, the Kantha Bopha Foundation, which is dedicated to improving healthcare for children in Cambodia. The contributions served to reinforce the philanthropic spirit that defines the Red Hornet Chairman’s Cup.
By the time the Guest of Honour, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, took his leave, the total estimated funds raised had already surpassed last year’s total, with a final tally to be announced soon.

Dalton Wong, Chairman of the Red Hornet Chairman’s Cup, expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the event’s success.
“This year’s Red Hornet Chairman’s Cup has been our most remarkable edition yet, not just in terms of the funds raised but also in the diversity and spirit of our participants,” he said.
“We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, partners, and everyone who contributed to making this event such a success. In particular, we are especially grateful that the Deputy Prime Minister took time from his busy schedule to grace our event and even helped present prizes to the winners.”
Looking ahead, Wong expressed optimism for next year’s event, hoping for an even greater turnout and continued success in raising funds for meaningful causes.
The Red Hornet Chairman’s Cup continues to be a shining example of how sporting events can bring communities together for a greater cause, and its future looks brighter than ever.
