Cambodia’s business delegation in Jakarta attends the PT Jababeka industrial park.


Days 2 and 3 of Cambodia’s inaugural private-led business delegation to Jakarta have toured the industrial park PT Jababeka and attended the international Trade Expo Indonesia as the delegation continues to seek increased trade and investment between the two nations.



At Jababeka, the delegation was briefed by the first publicly listed industrial estate developer in Indonesia. Established in 1989, the scale and vision of its multi-year development of an integrated city in some 5,600 hectares of land which is Kota Jababeka in Cikarang was an eye-opener and instructive on why smaller countries such as Cambodia have to be better at articulating its value proposition to Indonesian and businesses and investors.

As an industrial estate developer, Jababeka creates an industry-based township by developing industrial, residential, commercial property, leisure, infrastructure and estate management service.


At the Trade Expo Indonesia, numerous products, services and food of Indonesia were showcased, highlighting its vibrant enterprises and a reminder of why it is one of the largest economies in the world and a member of G20.

Chan Mach, CEO of Phillip Bank, said that it was a useful and inspirational experience to see and learn about the huge industrial park, PT Jababeka adding: “I think one day it will happen in Cambodia”.


From the visit to the Trade Expo, he said the brands of products and services that Indonesia has, and the types of production factories in Jakarta. Mach also opined that this would be useful for Phillip Bank to consider how they could convince Indonesian businesses to export to Cambodia.



Felix Hendrata, an Indonesian who has been resident in Cambodia for five years and is also the Vice-President of IndoCham, said: “The site visit to the Trade Expo was very inspiring and eye-opening on how we (business people in Cambodia) can apply unlimited creativity to add value on local produce from Cambodia.”

Felix is also the sales manager of Chnganh Gift, which produces and supplies various local Cambodian products as corporate gifts.


The 32-member business delegation comprises Cambodian and foreign businesses from various industries and sectors – banking and finance, real estate development, advisory and consultancy, agri-tech, manufacturing, SEZ, logistics and distribution, services, infrastructure and investment.


The primary purpose of the visit is to help raise awareness of the business opportunities and investment potential of Cambodia and to explore collaboration and partnership opportunities with their Indonesian counterparts through the various activities during the 5-day visit.



Edward Lee, CEO of Prince Real Estate, said he was glad to be part of the business delegation visit to Jakarta and had found it to be fruitful.


“The visit to Jababeka Township gave new ideas for our own township project in Sihanoukville, and through the trade expo today we are able to meet up potential new contacts of different service providers that will consider further collaborations in Cambodia,” Edward said.


“This business visit is very useful and is part of reaching out directly to regional markets, sharing with them about opportunities in Cambodia. Many of the Indonesian businesses we met were surprised by the ease of doing business and market opportunities that Cambodia provides,” he added.


Cambodia – An Overlooked Destination for Business and Investment

The main highlight of the business delegation visit will be today when they will be conducting a Seminar entitled “Cambodia – An Overlooked Destination for Business and Investment”.


To date, more than 110 participants from the Indonesian business community in Jakarta have signed up for the seminar.

The delegation will also have the opportunity to engage with senior members of KADIN Bilateral Committee Vietnam-Cambodia over a luncheon, and network with Indonesian businesspersons, professionals and investors during a Dinner Reception on the same day of the seminar.


His Excellency Nurul Ichwan, Deputy Minister of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia and His Excellency Sudirman Haseng, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Cambodia will be gracing the seminar and activities.


This inaugural private-sector-led event is jointly organized by Aquarii BD Cambodia and IndoCham, with the generous support of Khmer Enterprise, and the strong support and inputs from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry or KADIN, and the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
